Evil Dead Rise: Everything You Need to Know

Ten years ago we got Evil Dead (2013), a hilarious but also gory horror movie which captured some of the humor of Evil Dead II (1987) and the darkness of the original The Evil Dead (1981). Now a decade has passed, it is time for the next movie in the franchise, Evil Dead Rise to show us what it has got in store.

Release Date

Evil Dead Rise will be released in theaters on April 21, 2023. It was initially going straight to HBO Max, but after the trailer got such a positive reaction, plans changed and now we get to see this comedy-horror on the big screen.

Synopsis

The official synopsis of the plot from Warner Bros is:

Moving the action out of the woods and into the city, “Evil Dead Rise” tells a twisted tale of two estranged sisters, played by Sutherland and Sullivan, whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.

The movie will be 96 minutes long, making it the longest in the franchise so far/

Cast

Alyssa Sutherland, known for her role in Vikings as Queen Aslaug, will play Ellie, a single mother of three living in LA. From the trailer and promotional images, I think we can see where her story might go…

Additionally, Lily Sullivan is portraying Beth, Ellie’s sister and the leading role in the movie. Alongside Sullivan, Mia Challis will be playing a character called Jessica, and Morgan Davies, Gabrielle Echols, and Nell Fisher will be playing as yet undisclosed characters.
