Some Desperate Glory is a gorgeous queer space opera with a found family and exciting plot that will make you fall in love with this world and its characters. Emily Tesh’s debut novel will have you desperately flicking to the next page until the end.
Kyr is such an interesting protagonist, as someone who has to unlearn a lot of awful things after her brother disappears and she gets assigned a very unsavoury role…
Despite some of the darker tones in this science fiction novel, there is plenty of room for character bonding moments, humour, and other moments of levity. But, if you are expecting an easy read that’s always fun, you are going to face a harsh reality check!
The scope of the plot and themes are huge, and not everything gets explored in as much detail as you might want for certain aspects of the narrative. However, we do get a very intriguing and exciting plot, with some brilliant characterisation, so it is still a very enjoyable read.
