Doctor Who: A Complete History of Colonel Christofer Ibrahim

Colonel Christofer Ibrahim was introduced to viewers as a UNIT officer during the 60th Anniversary specials, and became a series regular whenever UNIT turned up. His latest appearance was in The War Between the Land and the Sea spin-off series.

Who Was Christofer Ibrahim?

Ibrahim was a close ally, friend, and eventually romantic partner to Kate Lethbridge-Stewart. He stood by her side at UNIT Tower and kept his cool during several tense engagements with enemies.

Unlike some UNIT soldiers in previous seasons of Doctor Who, Christofer Ibrahim felt like a pretty chill, relaxed soldier who would only pull a gun if absolutely necessary. He was happy to take orders and be a part of a team, instead of running off to do his own thing.

His Relationship with Kate Lethbridge-Stewart

During his time at UNIT Tower, we see hints of a relationship blossoming between Ibrahim and Stewart, but don’t see anything concrete until The War Between the Land and the Sea. In the spin-off show, we see them together in private, talking and kissing and… you get the idea.

While we might still not know a huge amount about him, this relationship added depth to Kate’s character, who has sometimes failed to be particularly complex.

Christofer Ibrahim’s Death in The War Between the Land and the Sea

Colonel Christofer Ibrahim is killed by an assassin in episode 3 of The War Between the Land and the SeaThe Deep. He is shot in the chest while moving Kate out of the sniper’s path at her apartment.

The first time we see the character die is when Sutekh kills him and everyone else during the events of Empire of Death, but a bullet to the chest probably isn’t reversible.

His loss will be felt by Kate and his close team at UNIT, and Kate’s grief might either make her do something stupid or crack down harder on her enemies – we will see in the finale!
