The Fantasy Review‘s list of Doctor Who Christmas specials to rewatch this Christmas 2025.
While there might not be a Doctor Who Christmas special until 2026, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be treating yourself to some good sonicing in 2025! That’s not a euphemism.
These are some of my favourite Doctor Who Christmas specials I think you will love, whether you’re in for a rewatch or have never seen them before. Treat yourself! Why not?
#1 – Last Christmas
The first Doctor Who Christmas special you should rewatch this Christmas 2025 is Last Christmas. From the end of Season 8, Peter Capaldi is the Twelfth Doctor and there’s Santa, face-huggers, and dreams within dreams.
I adore this special because it’s a beautiful homage to the Alien franchise I also love so much. It’s got a bit of everything: horror, humour, and heart.
Out of the three episodes on this list, if you only want to watch one Doctor Who Christmas special in 2025, watch Last Christmas.
#2 – The Runaway Bride
After Rose “dies” at the end of Season 2, David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor is alone, but not for long as a very confused Donna Noble, complete with wedding dress, materialises inside the console room of the TARDIS.
What comes next is the beginning of arguably the greatest Doctor-companion friendship of all time (so great Donna became a main companion in Season 4, and then both she and Ten/Fourteen returned for the 60th Anniversary specials).

#3 – Eve of the Daleks
If you’ve read any of my other Doctor Who articles, you might be surprised to see an episode from the Chibnall era on here, but as much as I struggled to enjoy those seasons, I adored this special.
Eve of the Daleks is not technically a Christmas special – it’s a New Years Day special – but it has the same feel.
With a guest appearance of Aisling Bea, we are treated to a time-loop episode with Daleks coming to kill the Doctor and her “Fam”. This is truly a fun and exciting episode with plenty of holiday warmth that is much needed at this time of year.
