Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton: Book Review

My Review

My Rating: 5/5

I read Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton cover-to-cover in a day.

I just couldn’t put it down! Amani is a wonderful character; her determination is mainly what makes me like her, I think, because that characterisation is so easy and enjoyable to read in this fantasy book.

She comes from an abusive and lonely background and throughout Rebel of the Sands we see how it has made her tough and fierce, but also loving and kind. She can be selfish at times, for example leaving someone behind in a dangerous situation so that she can escape, but these moments add layers to the character.

Amani is fantastic and I can’t wait to see where the next book in The Rebel of the Sands series takes her character development.

The plot of Rebel of the Sands was fast-paced, and at the end of each page there was always a hook that would make me continue reading. I HAD to know what happened in the next chapter, so I just didn’t put it down until the final words had been read.

Rebel of the Sands is a book filled with mystery, magic, and fierce heroes. It has opened my mind to the dangerous – yet beautiful – setting of the desert plains.
