The Fantasy Review‘s Spoiler-Free Review of The Babysitter (2017).

Rating: 4/5

The Babysitter (2017) is exactly what you want when it comes to horror comedy movies! It’s fun, overly bloody, and manic, but with some pretty good characters too.

Review of The Babysitter (2017)

Positives

Horror comedies can get exhausting pretty quickly. Sure, they are funny and easy to watch, but they are all the same! The Babysitter is like a mix between Home Alone (1990) and Scream (1996), having more in common with the former – and it works so well!

Cole is our main character, and he finds out his babysitter, Bee, and her friends are in a satanic cult…and they are in his house! It’s a fun, silly movie with a lot of heart and plenty of slapstick action.

Negatives

I know the point of the movie was to be silly, but it would have been cool to know and learn more about the satanic rituals, and what the cult wanted to accomplish. Considering they managed to create some great characters despite all the silliness, it would have been good to have a little more plot too.

Final Thoughts

Definitely one of the best horror comedies out there – check it out on Netflix whenever you can!
