The Martian Book Review – Spoiler Free

The Martian by Andy Weir is the second science fiction book I have read this year and it’s 5 stars – SF is going well for me right now! It’s nice to have a break from fantasy now and again.

Anyway, The Martian is brilliant. Mark’s character made me laugh out loud, even in the dire situation/s he was in. He’s hilarious – I just wish The Martian could have been longer!

No, I don’t really – the pacing of the novel was spot on, written like a true gardener/pantser (if the book was outlined, Andy Weir is the BEST outliner alive because there was never a dull moment).

I think I want to read more survival books. Into the Wild is supposed to be good. I just loved how a problem would come up and we would watch as Mark went about solving it, and then onto the next problem. It was satisfying – I can’t think of another word.
