The Plot

The premise intrigued me! Yes, it’s another guy in an impossible situation who has to work out how to survive, but this time he’s got the lives of everyone on Earth to think about too…

How’s that for raised stakes?

The plot was fantastic!! I was hooked and couldn’t stop reading. The pacing was perfect, except for when I got bogged down in the scientific stuff I didn’t understand.

You’re going to want to keep reading and find out how this all turns out – which brings me on to saying that the conclusion is super satisfying, bringing everything together in a masterful way.

The Funny-Guy Hero

Ryland Grace is a fun, likeable main character. He is funny and smart.

I don’t think I’m ever going to love one of Andy Weir’s protagonists more than I liked Mark Watney, but that’s okay.

Ryland Grace is distinct enough from Mark Watney, but there are certainly similarities. I didn’t mind this too much because I was in the mood for that kind of character, but I can see why some readers might find the similarities off-putting.

Overall Thoughts

Project Hail Mary is yet another great sci-fi book by Andy Weir. I am going to keep buying and reading every book this author puts out!
