Sister, Maiden, Monster by Lucy A. Snyder: Book Review

Spoiler-Free Sister, Maiden, Monster Book Review

Thanks to Titan Books for the arc! Sister, Maiden, Monster is out February 21st 2023.

If you don’t like reading about pandemics, or body horror isn’t your thing, then you should probably leave this book alone – but for all of you who want an interesting narrative tackling complex themes, dive right in!

Sister, Maiden, Monster was a quick read, but it’s one that will stick with you for a while. It packs a mean punch, exploring themes of gender, sexism/women’s rights and abuse.

Sister, Maiden, Monster Book Review

There is a lot to dive into with, I believe, under 300 pages, making it one of the few horror novels I would want to go back and reread and analyse – covering the pages in highlighters and notes! (I’ll need to get the paperback to do that!)

I don’t want to get into the plot because this is a book you should go into knowing little about. What I will say is that it’s a slow burn, but beautifully written – you will be creeped out/scared, but also enjoying Lucy A. Snyder’s control of language; definitely something to be jealous about!

Overall, Sister, Maiden, Monster is a horror novel that deals with complex topics and themes, and I am all here for it!
