Maddy‘s Review of The Terraformers by Annalee Newitz

Thank you Macmillan Publishing for letting me listen to and review this audiobook.

I enjoyed the narrator, they added a lot to the story. The different noises in the background and the voices for the robots were great. I liked the writing style and some of the characters. My favorite characters are Destry and Zest. However, I wish I would’ve had more time with the characters. These three different stories could be spread out between two or three books. I just really wanted to get to know more about the characters; their backstories, their hopes and dreams, and their motivations. I also enjoyed the romance, and the different friendships throughout the book.

I hope there will be another book, at least one, so I can learn more about this world that Annalee created. There are so many questions I have, more questions than answers. The book has a great and intriguing concept, and delivers well on a lot of things.

The planet Sask-E was interesting to learn about, and I loved the diverse characters. The writing style was great, and I never thought the story was too slow or anything. I kept wanting to know what was going to happen next. I just wanted more time with each character. I’m a very character driven reader though, I know not everyone is that way. I could definitely see this becoming a big series, there’s so much to explore.

It took a little while to get into the book, because there’s a lot of information at first, but I enjoyed the book overall. The characters and story was fun, yet I wish there was more. I hope Annalee will write a sequel! The book is out now.
