The Way of Kings Book Review – Spoiler Free

Took me long enough to get round to The Way of Kings. I had to read Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn Trilogy before The Stormlight Archive though, as I wanted to complete something Sanderson had written before starting this monster!

Firstly, I would like to say that the characters in The Way of Kings are just incredible. ALL of them. I won’t name them in this review (in reviews of later books I will).

I flew through the pages, genuinely caring about what might happen to them. Emotional reactions to things that happen to characters in books in rare for me so I was pleasantly surprised by this!

The story itself in The Way of Kings was great! I loved all of the cosmere easter eggs and lore and all the theories about everything are just rushing about in my head!

I’ll be reading the next books in The Stormlight Archive soon and watching all the YouTube videos about the series. I have not been so enticed by a world since I first read The Hobbit when I was 12.

This is one of the best fantasy books I have ever read and is a perfect start to a series. Well worth reading for anyone looking for a new favourite epic fantasy series to follow along with.

  1. I’m about 800 pages in The Way of Kings and it’s fabulous thus far. I started reading Stormlight right after I finished Wheel of Time. Sanderson does a great job at the character development and his fantasy/magic aspect is real neat. Can’t wait for the other books.
