Spoiler-Free Review of The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

These were the books I read when there was no more Harry Potter – and these are so much better than Harry Potter, don’t bother with the wizards: read these instead!

review of the lightning thief by rick riordan

The Lightning Thief is a fun, action-packed story following Percy Jackson as he is chased by monsters, attempting to find out why everyone thinks he stole Zeus’ lightning… Percy is a wonderful main character – he’s witty, fiercely brave, and smart.

He is joined by two new friends: Grover and Annabeth. These characters are amazing! I’m trying not to let future books and series impact this review, but it’s a bit difficult!

The Lightning Thief is funny, fast-paced, and has everything you want from this kind of book. There are monsters around every corner, a fantastic found family, and some of the coolest action and supernatural powers in children’s fiction.
